The Oriental was Japan's first Western-style hotel, established in 1870 in the heart of a city where exotic culture flourished and was hailed as "the most beautiful foreign settlement in the Orient." After closing due to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, it reopened in 2010 as "a hotel that weaves history beyond time," carrying on the spirit of its name.
