2012 Mid-career hire, assigned to dining
4th year: Appointed Dining Manager
5th year: Appointed Dining Manager at Plan・Do・See Indonesia
6th year: Appointed General Manager of Plan・Do・See Indonesia
14th year: Appointed spatial director. Based in Indonesia, he is also in charge of spatial director for new projects both domestically and internationally.
How did you meet Plan-Do-See and what made you decide to join?
During my job hunting period at university, a friend told me that there was an information session where wonderful women would gather, so I went without much thought and that was my first encounter with Plan-Do-See (hereafter referred to as PDS) (laughs).
It was just a casual encounter, but I was deeply impressed by With The Style Fukuoka, who was introduced there.
The space, music, food, and the demeanor of the staff - everything has a consistent sense of style, to the point that it's almost like I'm jealous.
I still clearly remember the moment when I was deeply moved and thought, "Is there really a job that allows me to create a world like this?"
The excitement I felt at that time is the origin of who I am today.
What kind of work are you doing now?
Currently, we are developing restaurants and hotels to make Indonesia a richer and more beautiful country.
Working with local members to create a space or brand from scratch is a dynamic challenge that continues to unfold.
Also, starting this year, I have been involved in several projects in Japan, working with Indonesian members to support hotel branding and interior design.
My job is to give shape to "PDS-style hospitality" that transcends borders and cultures.
What are the moments in your work that you feel are rewarding?
I don't have a concept of "work".
I believe that everything is "Work as Life" - life itself.
Both the happy and sad times are precious moments that help us improve ourselves.
I enjoy working as I live and living as I work, finding learning and joy in every event that happens.
Now that you've joined PDS and are actually working there, what do you think is the atmosphere and appeal?
This is something that can only be fully conveyed by experiencing it for yourself, but...
Every day is exciting, thrilling, and gripping.
I've always lived a life of "pursuing what I love," and when I was exposed to the sense of space created by PDS and the presence of its founder, Toyoka Noda, I honestly thought, "I want to be like that," and that's why I'm so happy to be working here now.
At PDS, I have had the opportunity to travel countless times, which has given me the opportunity to gain confidence.
I think the greatest appeal of PDS is the environment in which your sensibilities and challenges are constantly stimulated every day.
Please tell us about your future vision.
My parents run a pension, and I've always wanted to run a hotel since I was a child.
The appeal of hotels is that they offer a complete lifestyle, including food, people, and space - they are packed with all the elements of a "lifestyle business."
I believe that working at a hotel is all about balancing food, people, and space.
If it were me, I would first like to expand the possibilities of "space," because space has the power to reflect the atmosphere, culture, and even the sensibilities of the people of a place.
Through this hotel business, we hope to one day develop Plan-Do-See Indonesia into a presence that surpasses Plan-Do-See Japan.
At the same time, I truly want to contribute to the growth of Plan-Do-See Japan in an unsurpassable way.
