The appeal of the job

A job that spreads the charm of Japan to the world
We operate establishments with histories and stories that have been cherished in each region, such as the Oriental Hotel Kobe, the oldest hotel in Japan; the restaurant Kawabun in Nagoya, which has a 400-year history; the Marufukuro hotel, which was renovated from the former Nintendo headquarters in Kyoto; and the Ochiairo inn in Izu, a tangible cultural property beloved by many literary figures.
Adding your own creations and ideas to such a store space will further increase its value and make customers happy. This process gives you a great sense of fulfillment and accomplishment in this job.

In-house design team
As an in-house designer and director, I am able to continuously monitor the actual completion of the tools I have planned and created, and how they are received by customers.
One of the great rewards of my job is being able to continually pursue the question, "What kind of product will provide even greater satisfaction?" while receiving feedback from our on-site team members and customers.

Flexible working hours that allow you to manage your own work place and time
The department operates a flexible working system, allowing employees to manage their own schedules and attendance.
In addition to our head office in Azabudai Hills, there are a variety of options for where you can work, including your home, one of our stores, or a cafe.
We encourage you to work in a way that maximizes your performance.

What led you to change jobs to Plan-Do-See?
While gaining a wide range of experience from planning to design at a small production company, I began to seek an environment where I could work with a more diverse range of people and be involved with brands for the long term. I was attracted by the opportunity to be involved in memorable experiences such as travel and food, and the opportunity to see the results of the project through to the end, all in-house, so I decided to change jobs to Plan-Do-See.

What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, I am in charge of planning and designing new store opening projects while overseeing the branding of six of our existing stores. I am involved in new store formats in Nagoya, as well as openings in Yokohama and Hakuba, and am designing the overall worldview of the brand through logo and various tool production and sign planning.

What are the moments in your work that you feel are rewarding?
I feel a great sense of accomplishment when my ideas and creations are reflected in actual spaces and services, bringing smiles to customers' faces and the enthusiasm of on-site staff. In one case, we adapted the packaging of a popular product with a stained glass pattern, working with on-site staff and external designers to achieve both practicality and brand identity. When I saw how happy people were with the finished product, I realized how glad I was to have been involved.

Please tell us about the atmosphere and appeal you feel after actually working here.
When developing new stores, I'm attracted to the culture where field members are involved from the early stages and opinions can be exchanged on an equal footing regardless of department or seniority. Before joining the company, I was worried that "it would be full of sparkling people...", but in reality, it's people who genuinely love the products and the space who are working positively, and I feel that this passion creates the atmosphere throughout the company.
